Making of Arcadia, Oscar

Oscar is 10 months!

3 doggie beds, 2 cushions, 4 pairs of bedroom slippers, 3 slippers, 1 shoes, 2 food bowls, 1 leash, 1 tshirt, 2 sweatshirts, 1 sock, 1 roll toilet paper, and uncountable number of toys. Gone.

Oscar is 10 months old today. And he weighs 16.5 kilos. He is a strong boy now. And he is truly a part of the family. He has learnt a few commands and also figured out that I am the “soft” one that can be dominated and SS is the “master”. He plans his stubbornness accordingly. You know what I mean? Anyways, I thought I should share some updates on Oscar.

He loves his peanut butter.

He loves his peanut butter.

We now give him his bath outside in the driveway. He doesn't mind it too much. In fact, he is very good. There are soft whinges but doesn't resist the water or the shampooing.

And he has his "indoor bedroom" in the laundry. He has an "outdoor bedroom" - a kennel in the garage, but he hardly sleeps in there these days. And we move the baby gate to the laundry. He peeks from under the door and waits for us to open the gate. We also put him there when he is naughty. Not sure if that is the right approach but it seems to work. And look at his puppy face!

This baby gate is one of our best investments on Oscar.

Okay, we have spent quite some dollars in soft toys for oscar. He loves them. But it’s not practical to buy them any more. They are gone within minutes. The best toys are the ropes you can buy from the 2 dollar shops. They last long and he likes them too. And they are just a couple of dollars compared to fuzzyard soft toys that is at least $20.

Oscar treats on Clear Dog Treats.

We’ve stopped buying meat treats from the pet shops. Instead, we have been buying in bulk from the Clear Dog Treats online. There are so many varieties of treats from chicken, beef, lamb etc. Oscar loves all that we have bought so far. And its all natural meat, so we know its a healthier option. Not all of the treats are cheap though.

Hate to watch Oscar wait for us to get back home. Breaks my heart.

And we have also installed an IP camera to watch Oscar in the backyard when we are both at work. This sight of him waiting for us to get back home absolutely breaks my heart. Also in the photo, he has his 2 blankets out of his bed and on the grass. Not sure why he ALWAYS does that.

One thing that we can’t seem to properly train him on is not to jump. He doesn’t bite, but he will jump and hung, and lick any friends or stranger that approaches him. This behaviour terrifies my little nephew and in fact terrifies us to see this 16 kilo animal get hyper active. Not sure how we will get him trained up on this. Wish us luck.
